ABOUT DERRECK DASILVA

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER, HEALTH COACH, AND CURRENT NURSING STUDENT

Derreck DaSilva is a certified personal trainer, health coach, and nursing student. His mission is to help you become the best YOU that you can possibly be. Derreck gained his love for health and exercise at a young age. His father was a bodybuilder for many years and his mother used to be a yoga instructor, teaching veterans during her service in Afghanistan. Derreck has extensive experience, not only from his childhood, but also as a nursing student. He understands how the body works inside and out.

 

Self improvement is one of Derreck’s favorite hobbies and, most of all, he loves to share and educate others about what he has learned over the years! Through his journey, he has become a vegetarian, minimalist, and on his way to becoming a naturalist as well. Derreck believes in taking a practical approach to everything he does -- including training. While he believes that being able to bench press 400+ pounds is impressive in real life, it is only useful if you’re going to be pushing a 400lbs shopping cart (which he wouldn’t put past some of you ladies). He applies exercises that will help strengthen your activities of daily living, reduce the usual aches and pains, and help you begin to live a healthier and fuller life. The goal is that your life gets easier as you’re getting healthier!

 

Back pain tends to be one of the biggest aches shared by all, and Derreck can almost guarantee that with the skilled training he provides, if the pain doesn’t outright disappear, it will be greatly reduced, as back pain tends to be a result of a combination of weak and tight muscles. Something that can be very easily augmented with strength and flexibility training. The body, and life for that matter, is all about balance. Balancing the right amount of strength with flexibility is how back pain disappears, even though medical doctors may tell you pain medication and surgery are your only options. While this is sometimes the case, in a majority of scenarios those treatments can be avoided if something is done sooner than later. Derreck strongly believes in the body’s ability to heal itself; albeit sometimes it needs just a little help or direction. He loves to take the real and practical approach to fitness, healing, and overall health. 

 

Derreck stresses not only fitness but also healthy living and nutrition, as the body can only run as well as its food choices. As a nursing student, he has the joy of working in hospitals with elderly patients and he gets to see just how important the concepts that he values truly are. And sadly he sees whats in store for those who don't value a health conscious mindset. He loves the idea of people not only living longer, but healthier and fuller lives. No just adding years to your life, but LIFE to your years!

A study was conducted with young kids all the way to elderly adults and proved that it doesn’t matter how old you are or if you never exercised in your life--the body can still improve, build muscle,  and live better. 70 or 80-year-olds still showed growth.
